Redrock Lobster is 100% family owed and operated Tasmanian live southern rock lobster export business. Originally started in Smithton in 1990, and expanded to a 2nd facility in Margate in 2008, currently we have 10 employees (more in peak season Nov-March).

Prior to 1990 Ian Heathorn, the managing Director of Redrock Lobster was a professional southern rock lobster fishermen, based on the wild west coast of Tasmania, where the most sort after premium southern rock lobster thrive.

We have built up the business to cover the entire state of Tasmania, and we buy only the best boats in the state, that ensure they deliver the best product possible for our markets.

We buy lobster off our boats from here in Smithton, Sundown, Couta rocks, Temma, Strahan, Southport, Kettering, Margate, Hobart, Nubeena, Triabunna, St Helens, and Bicheno.

Exporting to many countries including China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, USA and may other destinations. We also supply the Melbourne Sydney Brisbane and Adelaide market live lobster. We also cook a small amount of lobster for local consumption in Tasmania.
